In Odell, once a long time ago, Sir Rowland Alston sold his soul to the Devil. What-ever caused him to make this desperate pledge is unknown. Rumour has it that among a family of soldiers, judges, and politicians, Sir Rowland was the odd one out, choosing to live a devious life. For what ever material wealth the Devil offered Alston, he refused to settle his half of the bargain. Fleeing in terror, Sir Rowland took sanctuary in the local church, called Odell All Saints. The Devil was so angry that he took hold of the church and shook it violently. There are still claw marks on its front porch today from when it happened. After Sir Rowland had died, his ghost was forced to wander aimlessly, never finding solace in the there-after. His spirit haunted Alston House for many years until an exorcism forced the ghost into a pond, where it would lay for one hundred years. Now, every century, the ghost of Sir Rowland takes to a phantom black horse to ride the local area. According to legend his next appearance will be in 2044.
